BIRD WATCHING
Dieu-Donne River Lodge
Experience natures miracle when 40,000 European Swallows
circle their roosting grounds during summer to settle for
the night in the reeds along the Umhlangamkulu River. Your
ideal base to observe this phenomenon is the bird watching
look out post at Dieu-Donne on the banks of the
Umhlangamkulu River.
Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve
An enigmatic species present at Oribi Gorge is the African
Scops Owl, which has been heard close to the picnic sites.
There are 230 species, comprising of forest, woodland,
grassland and rivers.
Uvongo River Nature Reserve
Uvongo River is an easily accessible and worthwhile
birding locality. The elusive African Finfoot is recorded
at Uvongo occasionally but is very rare.
Mpenjati Public Resort Nature Reserve
The Mpenjati lagoon attracts a wide diversity of aquatic
bird species, including birds associated with both
freshwater and coastal environments.
Umtamvuna Nature Reserve
One of the main attractions is the Cape Vulture, which is
almost certain to be seen, there is a breeding colony of
these impressive birds on a massive cliff face along the
Umtamvuna River.

Kingfisher Bowling Association will keep the avid bowler
